Sunshine Coast Tourism Operators Meet With ITOs

Forty nine inbound tour operators met with ten Sunshine Coast tourism operators in Sydney during the month of July. During this meeting the inbound tour operators (ITOs) took part in a one day workshop where they learned about tourism products in the Sunshine Coast.

This was an important meeting for the Sunshine Coast tourism operators as ITOs are a big part of what draws international visitors to the Sunshine Coast. This workshop allowed members of the industry to meet face to face and create contacts. The whole process of forging business relationships would have taken months to occur if the workshop had not been organized.

The Sunshine operators were pleased to be able to showcase their product to so many ITOs in one place. The end result of the workshop was that interest was generated from key United Kingdom and Europe markets. The operators that attended this workshop from the Sunshine Coast included Coco Moololoolaba, Australia Zoo, Noosa Dreamboats and Treehouses of Montville.

Once the ITOs are aware of the attractions in the Sunshine Coast, they can then advertise them to their customers. These advertisements will include catalog printing as well as television and online advertising.

The Sunshine Coast is not as popular a destination as locations such as Sydney and the Gold Coast. However, it does have a large amount of visitors every year. In 2010, the area attracted approximately 270,000 tourists. This is because the Sunshine Coast is less populated than the Gold Coast and is more suited to families who want a quiet beach vacation.
