Business owners from Maroochydore will be able to fly to Sydney for business more easily thanks to new flights being operated by Qantas.
The flights, which began this month, leave the Sunshine Coast at 6:40 am each weekday morning and return at 6:15 pm, enabling residents from Maroochydore and around the coast to fly into the New South Wales state capital to conduct a full day’s business without having to stay overnight, or deal with a long drive along the main highway.
Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson said the investment by the airline was a result of hard work by the council. He said:
“Looking at the broader picture, these flights are vital to the Sunshine Coast’s Regional Economic Development Strategy (REDS) because they’ll provide a convenient connection between our region and Australia’s major financial and business hub, that we haven’t had until now. Securing this new business service has been a priority for council”.
With more than 30,000 registered businesses on the Sunshine Coast, there should be plenty of passengers for the new flights, which is likely to be advertised using Flyers delivered to local firms.
The first flights began on Tuesday, February 9 and use a Boeing 717 that seats 110 passengers. The flights will join the services by Jetstar and Virgin that already fly to Sydney, but do not depart until later in the day.Get a Free Quote for Flyers
