Southport to host important mental health event
Griffith University’s Australian Institute for Suicide Research and Prevention (AISRAP) and the Care for Life Suicide Prevention Network are planning a community forum to allow professionals and community members to hear from leading experts in the field of mental health and suicide prevention.
Originally founded in 1996, AISRAP is the leading Australia-based research centre for clinical practice, community action and education regarding suicide prevention.
This year’s forum includes a massive line-up of leading figures in the field, including Ivan Frkovic, the current commissioner of the Queensland Mental Health Commission, and Jorgen Gullestrup, CEO of MATES in Construction Queensland and the 2018 winner of the 14th Annual LiFE Award. Community forums and educational events such as this can benefit from accessing professional printing services to prepare handouts and workshop materials.
Also joining Frkovic and Gullestrup is a grief expert and internationally renowned author with over 30 years of experience in grief education, Doris Zagdanski. A former funeral director and bereavement counsellor, she is the author of seven books, including “How Teenagers Cope with Grief”.
This year’s World Suicide Prevention Day Community Forum is scheduled to take place at the Southport Community Centre on Lawson Street, on Friday, 10th September. Commencing at 8:30 am, spaces for the event are strictly limited, and pre-registration is essential. Bookings are currently available online.
