Southport to hear New York rock
A much-loved rock band from North Port, New York will play live at a Southport music venue in 2025.
Southport residents looking for a rocking start to the new year are in luck. Popular gig spot Vinnies Dive has announced it will be opening its doors to New York rockers Wheatus for a summer show in January.
Live music venues like clubs and bars sometimes reach out to flyer printing services for eye-catching hand-to-hand advertising materials to draw attention to the gigs they present.
Renowned for their debut single “Teenage Dirtbag” first released on their eponymous album, Wheatus are a five-piece US rock band loved around the world. The group consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Brendan B. Brown, bassist Matthew Milligan, keyboard player Brandon Ticer and backing singers Gabrielle Sterbenz and Joey Slater.
In 2022, Teenage Dirtbag became part of a trend on TikTok, with millions of people uploading images of themselves from their teenage years using a hashtag with the song’s title. Participants included major celebrities including artists like Lady Gaga, Madonna and Jon Bon Jovi, along with actors like Chevy Chase and Mark Ruffalo among others.
Wheatus will now be live on stage at Vinnies Dive on Wednesday, January 22. The concert kicks off at 7 pm and the bar is based on Southport’s Nerang Street.
