A beloved ballet with a connection to Christmas is being performed this year at Sydney’s premier events venue based not far from Ultimo.

Residents with a love of dance seeking a seasonal show can book tickets for an upcoming ballet. A production of The Nutcracker is headed for Sydney in spring and summer and has received considerable praise from the press. Artshub gave it a five-star review and called it magical, while the Herald Sun described it as the perfect ballet.

The production from Sir Peter Wright features The Australian Ballet and stays faithful to the original 19th-century ballet. Designed to fill audiences with the spirit of Christmas, the ballet famously features Tchaikovsky’s iconic and timeless score.

While main choreography comes from Wright along with Vincent Redmon and Lev Ivanov, the production features additional choreography from the Birmingham Royal Ballet. It also features lighting design by David Finn and set design and costume design by John F. Macfarlane.

The Nutcracker will now be performed in the Joan Sutherland Theatre from Saturday, November 28 to Wednesday, December 16. The theatre is located within the Sydney Opera House, less than three miles from Ultimo, at Bennelong Point in Sydney.
