New Berlin plans drug take-back day

Just in time for spring cleaning, the city of New Berlin is hosting a drug disposal drive-thru event.

Despite reminders by medical professionals to finish off our prescriptions, particularly antibodies, almost everyone ends up with leftover prescription medication in their medicine cabinets. Eventually those medications expire or the owner may have even forgotten what they were originally prescribed for. Additionally, there are those circumstances where the person the medication was prescribed for has passed away.

Safely disposing of unused medication either in-date or expired is a tricky problem. While they are not entirely safe to be held on to as someone might mistakenly take them, it is not environmentally responsible to throw them in the trash.

New Berlin citizens can bring medications they wish to be rid of to the Moorland Reserve Health Center, located at 4805 S Moorland Road between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm on April 30.

Flyer printing services offer one of the least expensive means of informing a large portion of the public of an upcoming event in which they may wish to participate.

Besides prescription drugs, the many over-the-counter medications a family accumulates – including pills, cough medicine, ointments, inhalers, herbal remedies and sprays – can be dropped off as well. Medication for pets is also welcome.

The organizers ask for no household hazardous waste, mercury, biohazardous materials, or personal hygiene products.
