New Berlin residents will have the chance to enjoy a closer view of the night sky this September as a local observatory has announced that it will host an open house.
The Open House and Night Sky Viewing at the Observatory has opened registration to interested individuals and parties online, providing access to a nearly century-old observatory and its grounds for an evening. The event will begin with a talk led by Dawn Erb, a University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee professor, with a focus on the search for other life in the universe.
As the night sky grows darker, attendees will get to look at different celestial bodies through several of the observatory’s telescopes, weather-permitting. Volunteers will also offer tours and showcase captured images of deep sky objects, including nebulas and star clusters. Poster printing is a highly effective way to promote educational experiences like this while sharing the location, time, and date.
The open house offers a way for New Berlin residents to learn more about astronomy in an interactive setting. Guests are encouraged to check and dress for the weather before attending the experience. Bug spray and a flashlight are also encouraged.
The Milwaukee Astronomical Society, located in New Berlin, will host the open house on the evening of Friday, September 18th, from 6:30 to 9:30 PM. Admission is free, and a $5 donation is appreciated.
