Village students score well in spring
Elementary and middle school students in Menomonee Falls scored in the top 50% of state schools in two subjects of the 2015-2016 Forward Exam.
In the last three years, Wisconsin has had three standardized tests, with the Forward Exam being the latest. This is part of the two-test Wisconsin Student Assessment System and meets the academic standards for the state.
Third grade up to eighth grade students in the village did better than average in the math and language arts portions of the test, according The Wisconsin Student Assessment System's data.
With 43% of students in the state demonstrating proficiency or advanced knowledge of language arts and math, around 54% of Menomonee Falls district students demonstrated the same levels of knowledge. The village also scored marginally better in science and social studies. Students in grade five seem to have done the best in language arts, while students in grade four excelled in math.
Dr. Patricia Greco, superintendent of district schools, the students took the tests in the spring. She expressed her pride in not only the students, but the support system of their families, school staff, and the surrounding community.
Congratulating the students with a banner in the hallway for each school could help motivate students who have to take the test next year. A banner printing company could create a colorful and custom piece for each school.
