Residents support school improvements
After the results of a community survey in the town of Menomonee Falls were tallied, the residents have elected several key improvements for their school district. The number of respondents was higher than usual surveys, with a response rate of 18 percent.
Respondents were generally in favor of a $1.25 million operating referendum, as well as a capital referendum worth upwards of $49.8 million to upgrade school facilities and infrastructure.
The survey consisted of multiple categories for every proposed capitol improvement, with public support most strongly favoring the repair of the district's infrastructure and upgrades to existing facilities. Approved projects included replacing asphalt and piping to asbestos removal, the latter of which garnered 67 percent support from those surveyed. This indicated that the survey proved an effective means of communicating the district's needs, as well as serving as a source of feedback from the community.
It now remains up to the school board to review these results and decide what plans will be executed come next year in April. As a means of giving the community a voice, the survey was successful, but the board must still decide how to proceed having been given this guidance.
The school district could hire a print company to make a poster with this information in several charts. This poster can be used to propose funding from the state.
