Menomonee Falls university joins alliance with other schools and businesses
Herzing University in Menomonee Falls has launched the Higher Education Regional Alliance
A total of 18 universities and colleges in the southeastern area of Wisconsin joined a system of associated organizations on October 15 to commemorate the occasion at Milwaukee's We Energies.
Enabling students to be a part of an adept and inventive labor force to fulfill present and future industrial needs of the area is HERA's mission. Specifically, the alliance plans to connect talented job candidates with companies, increase college graduation rates, and ensure educational opportunities match the needs of the economy.
According to Renee Herzing, president of Herzing University, the institution is excited that other local universities and colleges work together to improve the labor force. The state has brought in new companies and schools need to train students, both traditional and adult learners, to work at those companies.
HERA was announced last year and currently speaks for over 150,000 southeastern Wisconsin students whom the economy depend on. Since most college students remain in Wisconsin, HERA focus on matching them with area businesses. Companies working with colleges can use corporate gifts to promote their businesses to students.
The largest amount of new graduates from a nursing program in the state come from Herzing University. The university works with multiple health care companies in Wisconsin to fill open positions. It has also worked with community colleges to create cooperative programs.
