Corners of Brookfield project underway
The first step in the construction of the Corners of Brookfield, a clearing of the site, was taken recently.
Expected to last a month or two, demolition of the site by a division of the contracting company C.W Purpero is underway. The company is designated a green tier excavating contractor, Wisconsin’s first, and does more than just knock down structures and haul away the debris.
Before the project, which will contain more 235 luxury apartments as well as space for restaurants and retailers, can begin construction, what is already there has to be deconstructed. As the site is “unbuilt”, whatever is reusable will be taken away for recycling. Steel, bricks, concrete, and wood will all be separated out and taken to their respective reclaiming facilities.
Once completed, the Corners of Brookfield will provide more than 1,000 permanent jobs in addition to elegant housing. Best of all will be the effect on the Town of Brookfield from what Lynn Sheka, spokesperson for The Corners of Brookfield, calls a “premiere lifestyle center”.
Anchor tenants for the retail portion of the building site are department stores Sendik’s and Von Maur. For the latter, this will be its first foray into the state of Wisconsin.
The rush on printing companies for stationery and business card printing services to reflect a new address will begin until the fall of 2016, because this is when The Corners is complete and fully open for business and living.
