Brookfield police department receives awards
The police departments of both Brookfield and Elm Grove were recently honored by the members of American Legion Post 449.
The veterans selected the two police groups to receive awards for Outstanding Public Safety, and Brookfield Police Chief Daniel Tushaus was provided with a letter of appreciation and a plaque. Both of these can be created by a print company.
Post Commander Ron Anderson made the presentation. In a press release, he noted that the officers continue to do their jobs, no matter how the role of police changes and what challenges they may face in their day-to-day working life. He further went on to say that they deserve the respect of all veterans, who understand that sense of dedication to helping others.
Chief Tushaus remarked that he is grateful for the award, and pleased that his staff are being recognized for the often difficult job they do. He noted that the support of the local community means a lot to the police.
A week after the presentation to Chief Tushaus, a similar one was made to Elm Grove Police Department Chief Jim Gage. Mr. Gage said that he was grateful for the award, especially as it comes from a group of people who understand what it is like to be called upon to protect the rights of others in the community.
