A Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be taking place next month in Tacoma.
This is one of the largest events in the world that is sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association to raise awareness and funds for the care and support of those suffering from this disease and to further research efforts. So far, close to $70,000 has been raised with the goal of raising 258,000. There are 276 participants and 80 teams.
Poster printing is usually called upon when events like this take place to encourage participation and promote fundraising efforts.
Participants in the walk will receive a tee-shirt after they have met the minimum amount of fundraising of $100. The day of the walk is when the tee-shirts will be available for pickup.
One feature of this walk is the Promise Garden. The Promise Garden focuses on participants to commit themselves to honor, remember, fight, and care for those with the disease. Participants in the walk receive a flower that represents their connection to the disease. They can then write a personal message along with the flower that will demonstrate their dedication to the efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.
The walk will take place on Sunday, September 15 at Todd Field at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma. Registration will start at 11:00 a.m., with a Promise Garden ceremony at noon, and the walk beginning at 12:30 p.m.
