Tacoma Symphony to perform final concert of season

The final performance of the 75th Anniversary Season of the Tacoma Symphony will take place this weekend.

Eternal Light 2.0, an innovative community youth project of the Symphony, and Mozart’s Requiem will be performed. Important concerts such as this one are often promoted through flyer printing.

Eternal Light was conceived of and produced by Sarah Ioannides, music director of the Symphony. It comprising original lyrics, music, poetry, and drawings submitted by local students that reflect whatever inspires them during difficult times. Kim Scharnberg from Fernanda Films worked with Ioannides to orchestrate the works into a visual and audio music gallery that will be synchronized to the music performed during the concert. There will be six young artists who will be performing on stage with the Symphony, accompanied by members of the Alleluia Singers of the University Place Presbyterian Church.

Symphony Tacoma Voices will join the Symphony Tacoma during the second half of the concert for Mozart’s Requiem. The soloists for the performance will include Barry Johnson (bass), Brendan Tuohy (tenor), Laurel Semerdjian (mezzo-soprano), and Alison Pohl (soprano).

Pacific Northwest Eye Associates, Tacoma Creates, One Stop Dentistry, and Virginia Mason Franciscan Health are sponsors of the concert. Tickets are $38 for reserved seating and $30 for general admission.

The concert will take place at 7:30 pm at the University Place Presbyterian Church in University Place this Saturday, June 4.
