Tacoma looks to offer training for jobseekers

WorkForce Central is helping employers in high-demand industries in Tacoma and the wider county to fill the many positions requiring qualified employees, while also helping those who are looking for employment.

WorkForce Central will be developing a pool of technical trainers who will be able to provide upskill training, rapid reskill, and employer-driven talent within sectors experiencing a shortage of skills.

Senior Director of Business Solutions at WorkForce Central, Teresa Delicino, said there are many in the area looking for jobs who are ready to learn new skills or get refreshers on existing skills. Delicino added that her organization will be able to provide a foundation for workers to find successful careers with a combination of individualized wrap-around support and training opportunities.

WorkForce Central will be working with those who provide training over the next three years to deliver program that will be between 2 and 16 weeks in length. Among the priorities for skill development will be technology and cybersecurity; the construction trades; nursing and medical billing and coding; and manufacturing. Once such classes are developed, brochure printing can be used to provide details about such classes, their dates and times, and other relevant information.

Training providers who wish to submit a proposal for a course need to do so by next Wednesday, September 29, and can use the WorkForce Central website. https://workforce-central.org/2021/08/09/rfqq-industry-and-career-cohort-training/
