Miss Representation is an upcoming film that makes guests question how media and media exposure affects girls and women when it comes to their primary values, beauty, and true sexuality.
A documentary film, it argues that the mass media has been responsible for teaching another female generation of young people about their primary, or core values, when it comes to how they should look and act, as well as about sexuality. This film shows how these teachings can be unhelpful when it comes to the woman’s capacity in leadership which, it argues, can make it difficult for women to take positions of power and leadership and be able to develop to their full potential.
In this film, the director takes an in-depth look at the media and the message it sends, as well as messages sent through interviews with people like Katie Couric, Gloria Steinem, Nancy Pelosi, and Rachel Maddow. After this movie, there will be a discussion period for guests to attend, if they care to, as many are likely to be rather startled by some of the film’s revelations.
Poster printing and flyer printing may have been used to present this documentary film to residents and people in the surround area. Admission to this film is $10 per person and it will be shown tomorrow, September 27, at 7:00 pm at the Grand Cinema located at 606 S. Fawcett Street, in Tacoma, Washington.
