Special scholars recognized at college in Tacoma

Tacoma Community College (TCC) has been recognized by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs for its number of administrators and faculty selected for the Fulbright United States Scholar Program.

Announcements of important accomplishments such as this are often made known throughout a college campus and the surrounding community with flyer printing.

The Fulbright Program is the flagship international academic exchange program of the United States. It was founded in 1946 and has provided the opportunity for over 400,000 accomplished and talented scholars, students, artists, teachers, and professionals to study, conduct research, and study abroad.

LaToya Reid, who is currently a Riving Scholar in Norway, is a communications professor at TCC who was selected for a Fulbright award for the next academic year. Dr. Ivan Harrell, president of TCC, expressed his excitement that Professor Reid will be able to share her teaching skills with a new group of teachers and students.

Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs, Lee Satterfield, said that those from Fulbright Top Producing Institutions are able to rise to the global challenges of tomorrow, and will make an impact across the world.
