New elementary schools open in Tacoma

Construction has been completed on the Downing and Skyline elementary schools in Tacoma and classes are now in session.

The Downing school features a new facility for children kindergarten through fifth grade, a main entrance with an open and inviting courtyard, bright colors, and wood beam panels in the library to make the school more comfortable and engaging for students.

The Skyline school also has a new facility for children in kindergarten through fifth grade on a campus that spans 20 acres so that it can accommodate 420 students. It also features a cafeteria, gymnasium, library, 14 general education classrooms, and a stage. Among the services offered will be health and wellness support, and specialty programs such as music and art.

The Skyline school is also a regional special education facility, so it has two developmental classrooms and space for physical and occupational therapy. There is also a peer inclusion classroom for pre-school students where those with special needs and general education students can learn together.

More details about features and programs offered at such schools are often included in flyer printing services disseminated throughout the community.

The Skyline school is attached to the Gonyea Boys and Girls Club. This space was updated and has dedicated program spaces that include a teen center with computers and access to shared spaces like the cafeteria, gymnasium, and kitchen.
