Symphony Tacoma will be performing Peter and the Wolf as part of its Mini Maestros program, which offers concerts for children between the ages of two and eight.
More information about such programs and the concerts presented in them can be written up and circulated with flyer printing.
These concerts are interactive experiences with musicians from Symphony Tacoma. They last for 45 minutes and enable children to be mentally and physically engaged with the music. An hour before the concert begins, an instrument “petting zoo” will be held where children can play, touch, and listen to a selection of instruments with assistance from the musicians. There is also the Symphony’s virtual classroom, where children learn more about the characters, activities, music, and story behind the upcoming performance.
Executive Director of Friends of the Children—Tacoma, JR Nobles, will be narrating the concert. The organization is a non-profit that pairs a professional mentor, called a “Friend,” with children facing obstacles. The mentor spends three to four sessions a week one-on-one with their mentee through high school graduation. Nobles is a native of Tacoma and has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington in sociology, and a Master of Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran University.
This concert will be at the Pantages Theater on Sunday, May 1 at 2:30 pm.
