Seattle skiers offered budget-friendly event

Winter is not far away, and in Seattle that means it is almost time to pay a visit to an event taking some of the financial bite out of hitting the ski slopes.

For over 30 years, the Newport Ski Swap has connected those who have gently used equipment to sell with members of the public who are ready to buy. The charity of choice for the occasion this year will be Newport High School.

The function is expected to include gear from more than 500 individuals and shops. Previous years have seen over 10,000 gently used, and even some new, items available. The activity will take place in two large gym areas, and equipment for other snow sports such as snowshoeing will also be available. There will be an opportunity for anyone who would like to sell their gear to do so, but they will need to register ahead of time.

Equipment sales help to make sport more budget friendly, and they may also prove to be effective fundraisers. Signage for an activity, as well as other large items, can be prepared by a banner printing company.

The Newport Ski Swap will be kicking off the winter season on November 11 and 12. It will be held at Newport High School in Bellevue, and those who are interested are advised to consult its website.
