Seattle session to welcome newbie sewists

Seattle’s beginner sewists who already have some experience but would like to learn some new skills are welcome to sign up for a two part workshop that will teach them some more advanced techniques.

The Sewing 103 course will help beginners take their swing skills to the next level by crafting a pair of pants. The participants will be working with commercial patterns, and full instruction will be provided.

The learners will be walked through the process of preparing their own pair of pants, and this will start with learning how to make accurate measurements. The organizers explained that it’s for those who already have a basic knowledge of how to use a sewing machine, and everyone registers is asked to supply their own pre-washed woven material, a pants pattern in their size, elastic for the waistband, pins, scissors, chalk and a ruler. Both installments will run for two and a half hours.

Sewing is a hobby that can be a lot of fun, and it may also be a thrifty way for fashionistas to add to their wardrobe. Handouts for a class or other activity can be prepared by area Stationery printers.

These hands-on sewing classes aimed at the beginner are scheduled for February 4th and 11th. It is scheduled to take place at 2307 1st Avenue in Seattle. Tickets for the activity are $161.90.
