Lynnwood recently announced the return of a series of plays to be performed outdoors this summer.

Shakespeare in the Park takes place in Lynndale Park, where two companies, Wooden O Productions, and GreenStage, will present four plays by William Shakespeare, the man generally acknowledged to be the greatest playwright in history.

Wooden O Productions will present “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “Cymbeline,” while GreenStage undertakes “Pericles” and “Henry V.” Wooden O Productions is part of the Seattle Shakespeare Company and travels throughout the region, presenting plays in parks and other outdoor venues in the summer.

GreenStage is dedicated to helping people appreciate live theater by taking away geographical and financial obstacles that make it difficult for people to appreciate the arts. The company presents Shakespeare’s works simply, by focusing on the relationships characters, story, and text. The shows are family oriented, fun, and free. Audience members are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and picnics and enjoy the evening.

The series begins July 13, a Wednesday, with “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” performed from 7.00 pm until 9.00 pm. “Cymbeline” is up next, on July 14. “Pericles” will be performed July 28, and the series ends August 4 with “Henry V.” The run time of all four plays is 7.00 pm until 9.00 pm. Admission is free, but a $5 donation is suggested. Programs are traditionally distributed at theatrical productions, and organizers of events like this can use brochure printing to create them.
