An upcoming event in Lynnwood will bring Hawaii to the Mainland.
The 4th Annual Lynnwood Luau is a free celebration of Hawaiian culture that includes drumming, dancing, live music, fire dancing, food trucks, local vendors, and the crowd-pleasing Hawaiian Shirt Competition. Events like this benefit when organizers create advertising for them using poster printing.
The fun starts at 2.00 pm with a performance by STRUM!, a local band. The name stands for Seattle’s Totally Relaxed Ukulele Musicians, and they are indeed based in Seattle. At 3.00 pm, Sunshine from Polynesia takes the stage, bringing hula, drumming, Polynesian dancing, and music. After that it’s time for everyone to join STRUM! in a jam session in the Kanikapila style. The term refers to the type of Hawaiian music produced at this type of informal gathering.
Two more bands, One Island Drop, a reggae island group, and Your Noisy Neighbors, are up next, followed by the Hawaiian Shirt Contest. Finally, the day ends with more performances by Sunshine from Polynesia.
In addition to the shirt contest and live music, there will be numerous vendors on hand, including Ohana BBQ, NW Black Belt Academy, Vanita Stained Glass, Panama Coffee, Wild Whisk Bakery, and Sheeesh hot sauce.
The Lynnwood Luau is free, but it is possible to reserve VIP Bar Searing or VIP Main Seating. Everyone is encouraged to wear their Hawaiian shirts to the vent, which is scheduled for August 15 outside the Lynnwood Event Center at The District Plaza.
