Lynnwood helps residents recycle

An upcoming event in Lynnwood will make it easy for residents to recycle some of their waste.

The City of Lynnwood E-Waste Event will give people a chance to dispose of electronic waste items, which are difficult to dispose of properly, and often require people to make a special trip to a recycling facility. They may also have to sort out the items into different categories. At this event, Friendly Earth will be at the Lynnwood Operations building and will accept everything with the exception of projection-style televisions, and tube/CRT televisions.

Friendly Earth is based in Seattle, and not only handles electronic waste, it also provides IT asset disposition, and data destruction. Although they operate primarily around Puget Sound, they schedule pickups nationwide.

Items that will be accepted are wire, circuit boards, hard drives, server racks, networking items, printer ink, toner ink, LCD monitors, printers, servers, laptops, and computers. They will also accept UPS battery backups, stereo equipment, video games, tablets, iPads, cell phones, MP3 players, home electronics, video game consoles, cable Boxes, computer electronics, and miscellaneous electronics. They will also accept LCD televisions, but no other type.

The e-waste recycling event is scheduled for January 3 at 10.00 am. The operations building is located at 20525 60th Ave West. Events like this can benefit when organizers use flyer printing to create handouts for distribution in the local area, or via mail, advertising the event.
