Christmas brings family, friends, gifts, and fun, but also creates discarded wrapping paper and dried-out Christmas tree. Lynnwood is holding an event to help residents dispose of those needle-dropping hazards.
The city is partnering with Boy Scout Troop 304, along with the Washington State Department of Ecology, to recycle residents’ Christmas trees. People may either drop off their trees at the collection site or call to have a pickup scheduled. Those who decide to bring in their trees for collection are asked to remove the tree stand, as well as any tinsel or decorations. They will not accept flocked trees.
This recycling effort is an annual event and is partly a fundraiser for the Boy Scouts. Anyone who wishes to donate may send a check made payable to “Boy Scout Troop 304,” or Venmo a contribution to @troop304lynnwood. Checks should be mailed to Troop 304 Lynnwood, P.O. Box 3431, Lynnwood, Washington 98046.
The 2025 Christmas Tree Recycling effort is scheduled for January 4, from 9.00 am until 4.00 pm, and January 5, from 10.00 am until 1.00 pm. The drop-off location is across from the Lynnwood Recreation Center, near the intersection of 188th Street SW & 44th Avenue W. If residents prefer to have their trees picked up, they will need to make a request by 8.00 pm on January 3. When events like this are set up, organizers may work with banner printing to create signage to help people find the location.
