Lynnwood goes green for June

Many products require special disposal, which can be inconvenient, so Lynnwood is making recycling easy.

The city will collect Styrofoam and electronic waste at an event in a couple of weeks, but there are some guidelines for recycling.

First, Styrofoam must be cleaned of Tape or stickers. Styro Recycle, which is handling this material, will not accept “soft” Styrofoam, and asks that Styrofoam be brought in loose, or in clear plastic Bags so it can be inspected easily. If it is dirty, residents will be asked to sort out the material.

Styro Recycle has a location in Kent where it will accept #4LDPE soft foam white/color, EPS white/clean, EPS color/printed, plastic film, Amazon blue and white Envelopes, cardboard, and packing peanuts.

Lynnwood is accepting most electronic waste including microwaves, cameras, handheld games, telephones, cell phones, audios, stereos, video game consoles, and DVD players. Some types of batteries are being accepted, including lithium-ion ones.

The organizers will not accept propane tanks, air conditioning units, exercise equipment, furniture, BBQs, water heaters, tube or projection televisions, large appliances like refrigerators, or any items containing liquids.

Collection is scheduled for Saturday, June 8, from 10.00 am until 12.00 pm, at the Lynnwood Operations & Maintenance Center, 20525 60th Ave W. When activities like this are planned, organizers often use flyer printing to create lists of acceptable items.
