Heavy metal band to raise Lynnwood noise levels

A deceptively named band is coming to Lynnwood next month.

Although the Texas Hippie Coalition did indeed get started in Denison, Texas, they are a metal band. The founding member was Big Dad Ritch, and his friend John Exall, along with several other friends. As is often found in bands, the lineup has changed repeatedly, with Big Dad Ritch the only original member still performing.

The band’s first release was “Rollin,” a studio album that dropped nationally in 2010. In June 2012, they released “Turn It Up,” their first single, then followed that up with another album, “Peacemaker,” which dropped in August 2012. The album made it to No. 20 on the Billboard Hard Rock Albums chart.

Texas Hippie Coalition has performed at festivals such as Rock on the Range, and Rocklahoma, as well as the Mayhem Festival. Their latest album, “The Name Lives On,” was released in April this year, so tracks from it are sure to be heard on the night.

A review of one the band’s live shows says:

“. . . Texas Hippie Coalition took over . . . causing the room to explode with a ruckus of happy hippies singing along and dancing to their favorites.”

The Texas Hippie Coalition will be at the Vessel Taphouse in Lynnwood on August 18. Their current tour supports their latest album, “The Name Lives On.” Organizers of events like this can use flyer printing to create handouts advertising the show in the area.
