Cooking class designed for teens in Lynnwood

A special event for young aspiring chefs is scheduled in Lynnwood next month.

The upcoming Teen Cook-Along Veggie Sushi Roll is an in-person event hosted by Amy Reuter, a registered dietician and nutritionist. Teens attending the class will spend their time crafting sushi.

Guests will first learn or refine their skills with a knife, and then learn the basics of making sushi. The includes learning how to make dipping sauces to accompany their sushi rolls.

The class is a “cook-along” experience, with the instructor demonstrating the techniques, which the students will follow at individual cooking stations. When an event involving hands-on activity is planned, organizers will often use flyer printing to create handouts of instructions for attendees.

If the class fills, teens from South Snohomish County will have priority. The organizers warn that they are now instituting a “three-strike” policy for people who fail to attend a class they’ve registered for, and ask that anyone who needs to cancel, let them know as quickly as possible.

The cooking class is specifically for teenagers from ages 11-17, and will be held in the Verdant Kitchen at the Verdant Community Wellness Center, on February 10. The center is at 4710 196th Street SW, and the class will run from 1.00pm until 3.00pm.

All cooking supplies and ingredients will be supplied. There is no charge for the event, but since space is limited, pre-registration is required.
