A conference for professionals in the building industry has been scheduled for Lynnwood.

The Washington Association of Building Officials (WABO) is hosting a four-day conference specifically for design professionals, contractors, architects, and engineers. Each day will feature classes from 8.30am until 4.30pm, but attendees will only be able to take one class per day, and they do not repeat. In other words, people attending a class will spend the entire day on that subject, giving them an in-depth understanding of the topic. Lunch will be provided, as will coffee, until lunchtime on each day of the conference.

Included among the scheduled classes is “High-Rise Buildings,” which is being suggested for fire marshals, engineers, architects, inspectors, designers, plans examiners, and building officials. The seminar will discuss the code requirements for this type of structure, particularly as high-rises are challenging environments for both residents and firefighters in an emergency.

Another seminar, “Fundamentals of Structural Engineering for Building Officials,” will cover two full days. The course will discuss the structural requirements in place in Washington State, and is suitable for building officials, designers, inspectors, plans examiners, and engineers.

The courses require textbooks, which attendees are advised to order before the conference as they will not be sold on site.

The WABO 2024 Annual Education Institute will take place from March 23 through March 28, at the Lynnwood Event Center on 3711 196th Street Southwest in Lynnwood. Organizers of events like this often work with businesses specializing in flyer printing to create an agenda for event attendees.
