Kalimba will be bringing the music, and the spirit, of EWF to Federal Way just in time for Christmas, playing the hits associated with the band, and favorite holiday tunes. Their Holiday Spectacular is family friendly, and will include songs from ‘Rudolph’ to the classic ‘September’.
The mission of Kalimba is to keep the message of EWF alive by reminding audience members of where they were when they first heard the band's music, which transcends social status, nationality, ethnicity, gender, and age. A number of former EWF members have endorsed Kalimba, and Sheldon Reynolds, a guitarist who was EWF's lead singer from 1987 until 2002, said:
“Out of the thousands of bands that try and play this music, Kalimba is the only group that gets it.”
A kalimba, from which the band takes its name, is an African musical instrument consisting of a wooden board with metal tines attached, in a staggered pattern. It is traditional among Zimbabwe's Shona people.
The show “Kalimba: The Spirit of Earth Wind and Fire” is set for December 20, from 8:00 pm until 10:00 pm, at the Performing Arts Event Center in Federal Way. Poster printing is frequently used to publicize shows like this.
