Federal Way residents who have items to be repaired have an event coming up just for them.
They should plan on bringing their non-functioning, cracked, or broken items to an upcoming Repair Cafe. Among the goods that can be brought in are clothing, small appliances, or other similar items.
The people doing the work will make a good-faith attempt to repair the items, but make no guarantees. They may tell the people bringing in the broken products what parts they need to make their own repairs if they prefer.
There are some rules. First, people are asked not to bring in anything they cannot carry. Second, they need to be present during the work, and the event is on a first-come, first-served basis. People are also asked to please bring chargers, adapters, manuals, or any other components or information they have that can assist the repair experts.
Also, microwaves are not acceptable; neither are electronics with cracked screens or that are locked out. In addition, items with a strong odor, that contain gasoline, or are dangerous or leaking will not be accepted.
The free Repair Cafe is scheduled for October 24, from 10.00 am until 1.00 pm, at South King Tool Library, who will give tours of the building and its rain garden, and provide refreshments and crafts for children. This event has been rescheduled from an earlier date. Flyer printing can be used to provide instructions to attendees at events like this.
