A healthy river often starts with a healthy forest, and an Federal Way area environmental service project is seeking helping hands that will give a local waterway lots of TLC.
The Green River Coalition, Mid Sound Fisheries and the City of Auburn will be welcoming area residents who participate in a day that will restore the environment in Fenster Nature Park. Everyone is asked to set aside three hours for the activity, and all the gear needed will be supplied.
Before they begin the task at hand, the attendees will be asked to sit in on a brief presentation that discusses invasive plants and why removing them is important. After this, the group will head out to begin planting trees. Everyone will learn how to use the supplied tools safely, and close toed shoes are required.
People may really appreciate the chance to get involved in a project that helps the environment. Stationery printers will have lots of options for spreading the word about an event, and many of these may be quite kind to the natural world.
This hands on clean-up of Fenster Nature Park will see the public roll up their sleeves and dig in on November 18th. Everyone who registers has been asked to arrive at 2027 4th Street SE in Auburn by no later than 10:00 am. The organizers can be reached at 240-425-3837.
