Federal Way boasts a climate well suited for growing rhododendrons, and a local botanical garden will be celebrating their bloom season.
The Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden will be open to moms and their families in honor of Mother's Day weekend, and there will be plenty to explore. Everyone is reminded to make sure they have their phone or camera at the ready so they can take some shots of the flowers, and a selfie station will be set up on the grounds.
The plans for the weekend will give the public a chance to enjoy the flowering shrubs at their peak bloom time, and with Stacks Burgers food truck parked onsite, everyone will be able to enjoy a picnic lunch. The patio will be available for seating and the gardens will be open from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm on both days.
Admission to the site is $8 for adults, and seniors and students are asked to pay $4. Children ages 12 and under may enter free of charge, as can military members. Banner printing options for a special celebration can be obtained from area Print shops.
This opportunity for mothers to enjoy the beauty of both native and introduced species and cultivars of rhodos will be on offer on May 7 and 8. The Garden is located at 2525 South 336th Street.
