An event celebrating cars that are, to put it bluntly, not sparkling showroom beauties has been scheduled to take place near Federal Way, and everyone that loves a beater should plan to attend.
The Concours d’Lemons will be held at Griot’s Garage World Headquarters in Tacoma, a short drive from Federal Way. The meeting celebrates the automotive world’s mundane, oddball, and truly awful creations, and is billed as the “world’s worst car show,” also known as the “Concours d’Lemons NorthWorst.”
Rust buckets, hoopties, and rattle traps of all kinds are welcome to smoke and clatter their way to the event, where enthusiastic fans will gather to have a good time with awful cars. There is no admission charge for spectators or for those who want to show off their favorite junkers, which organizers suggest means that attendees will get what they pay for, or perhaps less.
The name of the event, the “Concours d’Lemons,” is a mock salute to the term “Concours d’Elegance,” a French term usually translated as “competition of elegance.” In the United States there are a number of these meetings annually, where prestigious and luxury cars gather to be displayed and judged.
The Concours d’Lemons is set for June 12, from 8.00 am until 1.30 pm. The venue is at 3333 South 38th Street, where everyone is encouraged to give these beaters some love. Flyer printing can be used to publicize events like this.
