Time for comedy in Aberdeen

Once again, Messy Jessy’s is the place to be for those who like live comedy.

Casey McLain is the headliner, with Jeremiah Hughes hosting and Genevieve Ferrari also on the program. McLain runs the Seattle International Comedy Competition, which runs for a month during which time comedians take the stage at venues throughout the city. The competition started in 1980 and has been held every year since, except for 2020, when the pandemic shut down all non-essential activities.

McLain has appeared in Thrasher Magazine, and derives much of his material from his observations of family life, especially his daughter. He claims to have been rejected by most of North America’s important comedy festivals, but has also managed to tour the West Coast, often detouring to Spokane, where he has family. He has worked with other funny people like Robert Kelly, Heather McDonald, Pauly Shore, and others.

Genevieve Ferrari walks the line between being relatable and tackling uncomfortable subjects, such as being irresponsible when over thirty, aging ungracefully, parenting dogs, and why does being petty feel so good when it’s a terrible way to behave. Ferrari has performed throughout the world, and in addition to comedy, is also a writer and actor.

Casey McLain will be at Messy Jessy’s on November 8, from 9.00 pm until 10.30 pm. Messy Jessy’s is at 212 South I Street. When they plan shows like this, organizers may decide to work with a printer who can use poster printing to create advertisements.
