A class in wilderness survival is on the schedule in Aberdeen.
The class is hosted by Dallin Saurey, who is a personal event planner, and also holds classes in bird watching, and frequently conducts meetings outdoors. In this case, he is sharing what he has learned about surviving in the wilderness in an online class.
The class includes principles of survival, beginning with communication being the key. After that, people should remain calm, take inventory of what they have, build a shelter, find water and food, and make a fire. He also explains the things that matter most in a survival situation. After explaining what people need to do, he then goes on to explain how to do it.
The various techniques he touches on include how to build a fire and light it, how and where to find water, the methods to use to find edible plants consistently and how to test them for suitability for consumption, how to perform first aid with or without a kit, how to build a fire pit, map reading, and what a Dakota Fire Hole is and how to build and light one. Graphic design can be used to enhance materials used in events like this.
The online class is scheduled for March 13 and will be conducted on Google CIassroom. The class code will be given to participants upon registration.
