A fun festival is on the way back to Aberdeen, bringing days of fun.
The Mermaid Festival is expanding this year and will include local artists, vendors with tempting local treats, and world-class entertainment. The festival takes place at the International Mermaid Museum, which will waive admission during the event. The museum has numerous educational exhibits about the sea and the creatures who call it home, including a school of mermaids.
The most famous mermaid of the Pacific Northwest, Una will be performing underwater. Una is the leader of the Portland Mermaid Cove and founder of the Portland Mermaid Parade. The Cove will be telling stories and creating mermaid crafts during the festival.
Another mermaid, Siren Circe, will be on the throne in the museum, and Amanda Thornton and Nick Perry of Vertical Axis will perform literally in the sky. The Pacific Northwest Unicorns will be on hand, kept in check by Crystal, their handler, and Rachel the Sailing Siren, a fire dancer, will perform.
Food, authors, vendors, and a costume contest are only a small part of the events planned. The festival runs on weekends for the entire month of April; the dates are April 5th and 6th, 12th and 13th, 19th and 20th, and 26th, and 27th. For events this complex, organizers will often use flyer printing to create handouts for attendees including a map, schedule, and list of performers and vendors.
