The Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP) will be holding a comedy show in November at the Push Comedy Theater in Norfolk.
The Comedy Bootcamp Graduation Show is a performance where people can watch military veterans practice the comedy skills they learned through the ASAP. Each comedian in the event took a six-week workshop to learn the basics of standup comedy. The performers come from the Hampton Roads branch of the ASAP, which was founded in 2015 and encompasses cities like Virginia Beach and Williamsburg. The chapter will also be organizing an Improv, Acting, and Storytelling Graduation Show in Virginia Beach.
ASAP is an organization providing free art and comedy classes to those who served in the military and their family members. The courses offered by the group cover topics like writing, visual arts, storytelling, and acting. More than 600 veterans take part in these programs every year. The comedians trained in the ASAP’s workshops have performed at noteworthy venues like the Gotham Comedy Club, Warner Theater, and the White House.
The graduation show will take place on Sunday, November 5th at 5:00pm. Tickets to the performance are $10 per person. Those interested in supporting ASAP’s programs can donate to the organization online. Groups that put together comedy shows like this may utilize printing services to make ads for local audiences.
