The organization Coastal Virginia Plein Air will be holding a festival in April that will bring talented artists to Norfolk.
The 2021 Coastal VA Plein Air Art Festival is an event where 21 skilled plein air artists (meaning artists who paint outdoors) are brought to the community to paint outdoor scenes and participate in various activities. The artists will create original pieces showcasing the local beauty of Virginia’s beachscapes, gardens, and cityscapes. There will be a welcoming party for the participants where event supporters can attend to meet the artists.
Painters will be competing in a quick draw competition during the festival, only having two hours to create a judged picture. The public can view the contest and may purchase the paintings from the artists once the competition is finished. People can also buy paintings at the public art walk or during the private ticketed patron reception. Painters who attend gatherings such as this can bring Business Cards to share contact information with interested buyers.
The plein air festival will be held from Thursday, April 15 to Sunday, April 18. The quick draw competition and art walk will be free for the public to enjoy. Those wanting to become a supporter of the event can donate to the festival’s site.
