The Downtown Norfolk Waterfront will hold a festival in May for those who enjoy music, art, and food.
The Bayou Bon Vivant: Cajun Music, Food & Art Celebration is an event that lets people experience different aspects of New Orleanian culture. Several dishes can be tried at the festival, such as Cajun chicken wings, beignets, and Louisiana crawfish. Many talented performers will be featured throughout the festival, including the Honey Island Swamp Band, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, and the Hot Gumbo Brass Band. Guests can watch performances at the Crescent City Stage and the Main Stage.
There will also be numerous activities during the Bayou Bon Vivant, like boarding the Carrie B. Paddleboat or watching magic shows. People may learn about the reptiles of the bayou by attending an entertaining and informative show by Jack’s Jungle. Guests can even challenge a chess master from the Hampton Roads Chess Association. An art market comprising of members of the Louisiana Crafts Guild will be available to browse throughout the event.
The fest will last from Friday, May 19 to Sunday, May 21. A ticket to visit the festival for one day will cost $10 in advance and $15 on the event day. People may also purchase weekend passes for $25 in advance or $30 during the week of the festival. Vendors who participate in cultural experiences like this may connect with attendees by giving out promotional Pens.
