The Nauticus in Norfolk will be holding a winter festival starting in November to help raise funds for the Nauticus Foundation.
WinterFest on the Wisconsin is a holiday experience where guests can view several beautiful light displays while exploring the famous Nauticus vessel. There will be over 650,000 lights used in the displays. Other activities on board the Nauticus include below deck tours featuring a talking gingerbread man, lighted boat parades every Saturday, and a holiday gift market selling toys and themed decorations. Families may also visit with Santa Claus on the ship – those who do are asked to leave a $5 donation.
The Nauticus Foundation is a non-profit group that works to support the Nauticus’ mission and activities. The organization also wishes to share access to maritime resources and educate the community. The foundation was formed in 1994 and has helped fund the construction of the ship’s museum. It also developed the Sail Nauticus Community Sailing Center. Groups like this may share their purpose with the public by advertising themselves with flyer printing.
WinterFest on the Wisconsin will be held from Thursday, November 11 to Sunday, January 2, running Wednesdays through Saturdays. Tickets to the festival will cost $12.50 for adults and $10 for children on Wednesday and Thursday. Admission for Friday to Sunday will be $14.50 for grownups and $12 per child. Discounted admission will be given to members of the Nauticus.
