Norfolk race to benefit local river foundation

The Tidewater Striders and the Elizabeth River Trail Foundation will be organizing a fundraising race in Norfolk.

The Elizabeth River Run 10K & Mile Races is a competitive activity people can join individually or as a team. Those who place in the top three overall positions will receive a cash award. The group that earns first place will be awarded the Elizabeth River Run Cup. Once the competition concludes, racers can attend a post-race celebration featuring local craft beer, live music, and vendors. Businesses that take part in local charitable events such as this may bring Promotional Products to their booths to attract visitors.

The Elizabeth River Trail Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating an iconic trail for the community. The group aims to enhance the trail’s current amenities with new playgrounds, kayak launches, and fitness equipment. The foundation will also improve the path by adding solar lighting and interactive educational signage. Areas on the trail that will be altered include the Berkley Bridge Underlook and Harbor Park.

The race will be held on Sunday, September 4 from 7:15 am to 1:00 pm. The start of the course is located at Old Dominion University. Those interested in joining the 10K can pay $50, and runners who register for the mile run can pay $15. Prices will increase after July 31.
