Norfolk park adds dog area and playground

Meadowbrook Park in Norfolk has added some new features for local residents, including a dog park and a new play area.

The park has added a new playground for children, dog park, and basketball court. The playground provides shade too.

The new fenced dog park allows owners to let small and large dogs off their leashes. They can run and play in the enclosed area that was built. The new playground is designed for children aged 2 to 12 years old. It has swings, slides, and a new climbing area.

Meadowbrook Park is one of the two parks in Norfolk to have a smart playground installed. Augmented reality markers are connected to monkey bars, swings, and slides.

The markers act as QR Codes when scanned by parents using an application called Biba on their smartphones. This gives kids access to games, activities and scavenger hunts.

The Norfolk Recreation Department and Open Space worked with the community to complete this project. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held December 15 to celebrate the opening. Flyer printing is often used to let locals know of changes and new developments like this.

The half size basketball court added is open to all ages. These new additions give dog owners, families, and residents a good reason to be active during the colder months says Darrell Crittendon, director of RPOS.
