Norfolk naval museum to organize building competition

The Hampton Roads Naval Museum will hold a Lego shipbuilding contest in February at the Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center in Norfolk.

Brick by Brick: Lego Shipbuilding is an annual event where people can play with Lego while learning about ships. Guests can participate in on-site shipbuilding activities and view pre-made ship displays at the cruise terminal. There will be free play areas where attendees can build with Lego and Duplo, and a sensory room will be available for families in need of quiet time while at the building convention. Visitors may also see robotics displays at the event.

The Hampton Roads Naval Museum is an attraction operated by the U.S. Navy and is located on the second level of the Nauticus ship. Those who visit the museum can see a collection of authentic uniforms, underwater artifacts, and detailed ship models. The attraction serves as an educational resource for local schools and area commands. People can help the museum by becoming volunteer greeters and assisting it during special events.

The Lego shipbuilding fest will be held on Saturday, February 4 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Admission to the Lego festival is free for all families. Those interested in participating in the shipbuilding competition must submit their entries by 2:00 pm. Museums that hold community fests like this may use banner printing to share their contests with outdoor consumers.
