The Norfolk Theater Festival will have a variety of productions featuring drama, musicals, and comedies at local theaters in Norfolk. This festival celebrates Norfolk’s many performing arts theaters, and theater programs at local universities.
On the Island will be performed at Norfolk State University Theater G.W. C Brown Memorial Hall Main Theater on February 14 at 7:30 pm, and February 16 and 17 at 2:00 pm. It is musical about a Caribbean girl who risks all for love.
The Scarlet Letter will be shown at the Wells Theater on the same date of February 14 at 8:00 pm. This tells a story of forbidden love and adultery.
Choir Boy will be shown at the Attucks Theater on February 15 and 16 at 7:30 pm, and February 17 at 5 p.m. This 2017 National Black Theater Production is about a boy named Pharos who wants to lead his school’s choir known for performing gospel music.
At the Chrysler Hall The Wizard of Oz will be performed on February 15 at 8:00 pm, February 16 at 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm and February 17 at 1:00 pm. This is the famous family musical with Dorothy and her dog Toto, The Tin Man, The Cowardly Lion, and the Scarecrow.
Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors will be shown at the Selin Arcade on February 15 and 16 at 8:00 pm and February 17 at 6:00 pm, telling the amusing tale of identical twins.
Lastly, the Secret Garden will be shown at the Norfolk Botanical Garden on February 15 at 7:30 pm, February 16 at 3:00 pm, and 7:30 pm and February 17 at 2:00 pm.
