At the start of this month, Norfolk-based Titan America announced that Bill Zarkalis is to be welcomed to the company as CEO.
Zarkalis has served Titan America’s parent organization, Titan Cement, since 2010 as the company’s Group CFO, and prior to that, as the Executive Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development.
Prior to his career with Titan, Zarkalis held a variety of positions at the executive level with Dow Chemical. He has also represented Titan America in the WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development), as well as the Cement Sustainability Initiative (CSI) and the ERT (European Round Table).
Zarkalis holds two Masters of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering, one from the National Technical University at Athens, and the other from the University of Pennsylvania.
Titan America LLC, according to a press release, is a leading heavy building materials company that focuses on being socially and environmentally progressive. Titan Cement, its parent company, has its headquarters in Athens, and is a UN Global Compact signatory. The company has been operating since 1902, and is family-led.
