The ARTfactory, City of Manassas, Micron Technology Foundation and the Harris Pavilion have joined forces to present four free concerts during the summer in their SummerSounds Concert Series.
On July 24th, the first concert will be an eight-member folk group, Shenandoah Run. This band originally from Vienna plays contemporary and traditional folk music with a sprinkle of bluegrass and country. This group’s music has been compared to the sound of the New Christy Minstrels.
Lil’ Macio Kareem Walkes, an international soprano saxophone artist, will be the headliner for the August 7th. Walkes plays funk, jazz and blues.
Four man group called The Splinters is scheduled to take the stage on August 14th. They are known for their take on Americana, country, New Orleans funk, rock and roots.
Wicked Olde will bring the concert series to a close September 4th. Northern Virginia natives, the four (two men, two women) members describe their music as “Eclectic.” They will play everything old from old-time folk, bluegrass, pop, blues and Appalachian standards to Celtic reels and jigs.
Groups that put on music concert series like this often have pictures taken during the event. These photos often go to nearby Print shops to become part of a group’s visitor brochure printing.
SummerSounds Concert Series will be at Harris Pavilion, 9201 Center Street beginning at 6:30 pm on Saturday evenings. Manassas guests are invited to bring picnics, blankets and chairs. Concerts will be held rain or shine.
