Santa Lights Manassas and the Greater Manassas Christmas Parade are slated for early December.
Santa will be arriving to light this year's Christmas tree in Downtown Manassas. Holiday musical performances will begin at 5:15 pm on the Manassas Museum Lawn Stage and on West Street. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive at the Manassas Depot on a VRE train at 6:19 pm. At 6:30 pm the ceremony for the tree lighting on the Manassas Museum Lawn will begin. Afterward Santa and his Mrs. will go to the TD Bank Santa Tent to welcome little ones and listen to their holiday wish lists.
Free wagon rides will be available after the tree lighting and ice skating will be at the Harris Pavilion until 10:00 pm.
Santa Lights Manassas will take place Friday, December 5th.
More than 100 entries including floats, marching bands, equestrians, non-profit organizations, dance troupes, cheerleaders and high-flying balloons are expected to participate in this year's 79th Greater Manassas Christmas Parade. This year's parade theme will be Elfin' Around Old Town.
Marching units often get some banner printing done beforehand to have Banners introducing themselves to the spectators.
The two-hour procession will begin at the intersection of Carriage Lane and Mathis Avenue, continuing to Sudley Road and proceeding through Historic Downtown Manassas down Center Street. It will then turn onto Peabody Street and end on Lee Avenue right after the courthouse.
The parade will be from 10:00 am to noon on December 6th.
