For the 7th year, Kena Shriners will be holding their Sinkin' & Drinkin' Cinco de Cornhole tournament here in Manassas in early May.
Three competitions will be included in the tournament - a social, a competitive, and kid/parent section. Participants in the social element will get a minimum of four to six game Switcholio (meaning players are blind drawn into a round robin format). Bags will be thrown 27 feet, and the games will last 10 minutes or until someone scores 21 points. Winners will get prizes from event sponsors, gift cards, and cash. Registration will be $50 and no partners will be required.
The competitive tournament will have teams of four with a pool play format. Again, the distance will be 27 feet and the games end when one side scores 21. Winners will get at least $2,000 in cash and more depending on registration totals. Registration for each team will be $120.
The kid/parent competition will be for kids from the ages of six to twelve and their parents or guardians, and teams of two to three will play in a pool play format with a 15-foot distance, and the winners will be the side accumulating 21 points. Registration will be $20 per team.
Those who enter kid-parent competitions often get colorful matching shirts bearing their team name printed at local Print shops.
It will take place on Sunday, May 3 at 9500 Technology Drive. Check-in will begin at 11:30 am and Bags start to fly at noon. Proceeds from the day will go to Shriners Hospital for Children.
