Manassas Railway Festival will be returning to Historic Downtown Manassas in early June.
The purpose of the event is to commemorate the railroad's influence on Manassas, originally named Manassas Junction, a major railroad crossroads for the Manassas Gap Railroad and the Orange and Alexandria Railroad.
Virginia Railway Express Excursion Train Rides from Manassas to Clifton and back will depart hourly beginning at 10:00 am and ending with the 1:00 pm departure. Tickets will be $9 for cash transactions and $10 for credit cards. The 10:00 am and the 11:00 am trips will have special guests in the form of the 501 Regiment of Troopers, and the other two later trains will feature Princess Belle and Princess Mirabel.
Local model train clubs will be showing their large elaborate layouts and train specialty and memorabilia vendors will be selling railroad art, hobby items, collectibles, and local crafts. Live entertainment will include family-friendly performances and music. Buskers will be scattered around Old Town.
The venue will also feature hands-on displays. Food vendors will be selling festival goodies and nearby restaurants will be open. Railway events often use poster printing to create themed and nostalgic advertising.
The 32nd Manassas Railway Festival will take place on Saturday, June 6th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Manassas Railroad Depot (Manassas's Historic Train Station), 9431 West Street, and Historic Downtown. The event will be free to attend.
